Traverse Morocco's most dramatic landscapes — from Marrakech over the High Atlas to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Your private driver, your pace, your Sahara.
The Sahara is not just a destination — it is a transformation. Few experiences in the world compare to cresting a 150-metre dune at sunset, watching the shadows lengthen across the silence below, knowing that the next light you'll see is ten thousand stars over your private bivouac camp.
Our 3-day private tour from Marrakech is our most popular itinerary — and for good reason. You travel with your own English-speaking driver, stop wherever the light is beautiful, and arrive at Merzouga rested and ready to meet the desert on its own terms.
This is not a group tour. It is your personal Sahara journey.
Depart Marrakech at dawn and ascend the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka pass, the highest road pass in Morocco at 2,260 metres. Your driver shares the history of the Berber peoples who have traversed these mountains for millennia. Descend into the Draa pre-Saharan plains and visit Ait Benhaddou — the 11th-century fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site that has starred in Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. Overnight in Ouarzazate, the 'Hollywood of Africa'.
After breakfast, drive south through the date-palm-lined Draa Valley, one of Morocco's most cinematic landscapes. Stop at Agdz and the ancient ksar of Zagora. Continue through volcanic hammada — the stone desert — to arrive at Merzouga in the late afternoon as the light turns gold. Your guide leads you into the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback for sunset. As night falls, settle into your private luxury bivouac camp: a private tent with real beds, hot shower, Berber lanterns, and a sky ablaze with the Milky Way.
Rise before dawn to watch the Sahara sunrise from atop a dune — arguably the most beautiful moment in all of Morocco. After a traditional Berber breakfast, depart north through the magnificent Ziz Valley and the palm groves of Erfoud. Visit the towering walls of the Todra Gorge (300-metre canyon walls) and the sculptural Dades Valley, famous for its rose fields. Return to Marrakech via the southern foothills of the Atlas, arriving evening.
October to April is ideal — mild temperatures (15–25°C) and clear skies. July and August are extremely hot in the Sahara (often 45°C+). If you must travel in summer, we recommend early morning dune activities. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offer the most beautiful light and comfortable temperatures.
Yes, absolutely. The camel trek lasts approximately 1–1.5 hours each way into the dunes. The camels are gentle and guided by experienced Berber handlers. No prior experience is necessary. Sandals or closed shoes are recommended. If you prefer, you can also reach the bivouac by 4×4 or on foot.
Yes — every itinerary is fully customisable. We can add days, reroute to include Fez, Chefchaouen, or the Atlantic coast, or tailor the pace entirely to your needs. We also offer 1-day and 2-day Sahara variations for travellers with limited time, as well as 7–14 day Grand Morocco circuits.
Erg Chebbi (Merzouga) is Morocco's most accessible and iconic dune field — easily reachable by paved road, with a range of accommodation options. Erg Chigaga is more remote (3–4 hours from Zagora on piste tracks), with far fewer visitors and a wilder, more authentic desert experience. We offer both — Erg Chigaga requires an additional day and a 4×4 transfer.
